    In 1945 the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was introduced to the war. It was one of the primary planes used in the war and is the one that soldiers were trained to fly. Many were stationed here in New Mexico at kirtland air force base.

    The Deadliest prison riot in U. S. occurred at New Mexico State Penitentiary in 1980. It occured on Febuary 2 and 3rd. 33 inmates died and more than 200 inmates were treated for injuries.
