    Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation
    The FDIC is responsible for insuring deposits made by individuals and companies in banks. It was created in 1933 in reponse to thousands of bank failures and it protected deposits up to $5,000, today accounts are protected up to $250,000. The FDIC is still in effect today.
  • Agricultural Adjustment Administration

    Agricultural Adjustment Administration
    The AAA was made to make farming great again. By decreasing ag production, rasising prices of the crops produced, and greatlyreducing export surpluses, the AAA obtainined its goal. It gave farmers a little more money so they didn't have to find a new porfession. It was created by the Agricultural Adjustment Act in 1933. The act was ruled unconstitutional in 1936.

    Public Works Administration
    The PWA was created to reduce unemployment and increase the construction of highways and public buildings, at the time of the Great Depression. Created by the National Industrial Recovery Act. The PWA lasted 11 years before it was disbanded in 1944.
  • Home Owners Loan Corporation

    Home Owners Loan Corporation
    The HOLC was established in 1933 to provde a helping hand to people who faced mortgage debt in depression era times. Established by the Home Owners' Loan Corporation Act under FDR. This corporation lasted until 1936.
  • Federal Housing Administration

    Federal Housing Administration
    The FHA was created by congress in 1934. The FHA insures mortgages on all types of housing units. It also insures loans on homes that were being built or needed repairs. The Federal Housing Administration still exists today.
  • Rural Electrification Administration

    Rural Electrification Administration
    The REA was created under FDR. Its primary goal was promoting affordable electricity for rural areas. The administration was abolished in 1994 and was taken over by the Rural Utilities Service.
  • National Youth Administration

    National Youth Administration
    The NYA main purpose was to provide work and education for more than two million college and high school students. It operated until 1939 as part of the Works Progress Administration. It helped children not be as dependent on thier parents duirng the depression-era.
  • National Labor Relations Board

    National Labor Relations Board
    The Wagner Bill created the National Labor Relations Board. The NLRB set unfair labor practices and helped settle disputes between an employer and employees. The National Labor Relations Board is still in effect today.
  • Social Security Administration

    Social Security Administration
    The SSA was signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The act provides insurance for the retired, unemployment compensation and aid to the disabled. The Social Security Administration is still providing payments today.
  • Banking Act of 1935

    Banking Act of 1935
    The Banking Act was put in place by President Roosevelt in August of 1935. A board of seven members, each appoint by the Presient and Senate, regulated interest rates and a money supply. The act made a permanent agency, referred to as the FDIC, and required insurance of $5,000 on covered accounts. Today, the insurance amount has changed significantly, but the FDIC is still in existence.
