    The amount of miles there were of railraod tracks grew from 2,000 to 59,000 and were primarily owned by the U.S and Europe. Trade, railways and government loans were important foriegn investments during this time period.

    Diaz becomes president of mexico. Also Argentina uses its first refrigerated ship to export meat to Europe.

    U.S Banana companies are blossoming in Central America. Mexican trade also expanded by 900 percent.
  • Cuba abolishes slavery

    The spanish abolished slavery in Cuba. Brazil follows in 1888 and this ends four centuries of slavery in the America's.

    With Brazil becoming a republic the U.S. influence in Latin America starts to become stronger then the British and European influence.

    U.S goes to war with Spain in Cuba,Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. The U.S annexes Hawaii.

    U.S. intervention makes way for Panama Canal.

    Roosevelt Corollary and the Monroe Doctrine were announced.
