This movement consisted of many events that had the same goal of ending British rule in India. One of the biggest movements was the nonviolent one led by Gandhi. -

During this time, the people of South Africa were controlled under segregation laws. The white government made people of different races live in separate areas no matter were they lived at the moment. They forced people to move and live in their assigned area. -

These movements were led by Kwame Nkrumah. The idea was to get Ghana out of British control. They eventually did and Nkrumah became the president. -
Group Areas Acts
The government created areas for different races to live in. If someone of a different race had a house or business in that area, they were forced to move. If they were caught in a different area then they would be punished. -
Mau Mau Rebellion
The Mau Mau Rebellion was a fight in the British Kenya Colony. Kenya was fighting for its independence under the British rule. -
"Reference Book"
The government made a law that forced all African males that were over the age of 16 to carry a "reference book". these books contained all of their information and had to be with them at all times. -

The defiance campaign was a protest against unjust laws. These people believed that Africans should be allowed to be in any level of government. -

The goal of this revolution was to overthrow the Cuban government. After the revolution, a new government came in that was led by Fidel Castro. -

This war was fought for Algerian independence from France. The French promised powerful self-rule but didn't fulfill that. The Algerian people were angry and wanted to make a change. -
Women’s Protest in Pretoria
Thousands of women got together to protest against the rights they were being given. They were angry because women were being told where they could and couldn't work. -

Congo Independence Movement
This movement happened because the Congo wanted Independence from the rule they were living under. Patrice Lumumba became prime minister but was later captured and killed. -
Sharpeville Massacre
People were protesting the laws being put into place against African citizens. They were angry that they were viewed as different. They burned the passes at the police station. This led to 69 people being killed. -
Cambodian Civil War
This war was fought in Cambodia between the government and a communist government. the Khmer Rouge wanted to replace the current government with communist leaders. -
