    WWI ended because of the Treaty of Versailles. Germany was forced to pay an enormous amount of reparations to their allies. It also estabolisded the League of Nations and the nine new nations.

    Invasion of Manchuria
    Japanese soldiers were forced to invade Manchuria and seiz their natural resources. The Japanese governent ordered them to stop but they simply refused.

    Beginning day of the Holocaust
    This was the official starting date for what is known as the "Holocaust." Thousands and thousands of Jews will be killed.

    Kristallnacht was also known as "the night of broken glass." Many businesses and synagogues were damaged and the Jews were the ones that were blamed. One hundred Jews were killed and twenty - six thousand were sent to concentration camps because of this.

    Two leaders, Roosevelt and Winston Churchill (British leader) secretly met near Canada on a ship estabolishing an agreement. This agreement announced the shared goals of the US. and Britian, which was directed towards Hitler and his allies.

    On this day in history the Japanese led a surprise air attack against the base of the United States.

    The Japanse forced sick American troops to walk over sixty miles to the prisoner of war camp. Two thirds of the troops were killed because they were beaten, dehydrated, and even starved.

    Japanese forces attacked Okinawa Island hiding in caves and tunnels making it an easier battle. Well over twelve thousand American soldiers were killed on this day.

    Victory in Europe Day
    Victory in Europe Day is also known as VE Day. After the word got around announcing Hitler's death, the fighting stopped, and Berlin surrendered on May 2. German armies eventually gave up the fight leaving Karl Donitz (German's new leader) to surrender on May 7th. The effect took place the next day. Marked the formal end of the war in Europe.

    On the USS Missouri in Tokoyo Bay, Japan surrenders to it's allies, which finally ends WWII. Once WWII ended, the Holocaust was also ended.

    There were a series of thirteen trials that charged people for crimes against peace and humanity. Some were sentenced to death or were put in prison. The Nuremberg Trials evenutally came to and end in 1949.
