    The Crusade for Justice
    Founded by Rodolfo "Corky" Gonazles, this group was founded for Mexican American Nationalism in Denver, Colorado. Working out of a church, the group worked to unite the Mexican Americans. The group worked from a church and provided many programs to help the community such as bilingual classes for children, a Spanish-American newspaper, and a theatre to provide cultural awareness for the community.   • Alianza

    Alianza
    The early leader Reies Lopez Tijerina formed the Federal Alliance of Land Grants in Rio Arriba County, New Mexico. Despite the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, Mexicans lost 60% of the land they once owned. This alliance sparked the Chicano Movement in the United States. Pg. 997

    MAYO
    In San Antonio, a group called the Mexican American Youth Organization formed in 1967. A key founder was Jose Angel Gutierrez whom desired to grant Mexican Americans independance. This group desired to create a new political party that focused on economic independance and better education. The group had many demonstrations to prove their point. Book, page 997

    The Brown Berets
    A militant organization in the Chicano movement Los Angeles students began protesting against police brutality. They also fought for better education and held many school walk-outs. They heavily supported the Chicanos in New Mexico trying to recover their lands. Book Pg. 999

    La Raza Unida
    The same founder of MAYO, Jose Angel Gutierrez created this political party in hopes to back up Ramsey Muniz for governor and other Chicana canidates.
