This battle convinced Napoleon that he could achieve bigger and better things. On May 6 he began to move along the Southern Bank of the river Adda. On May 9 the French made it the the Northern Bank. And finally by May 10 the main Austraian army had escaped across the River Adda. On May 10 Bonaparte took up his new command at the head of the Army of Italy. -
