Napoleon successfully invaded some of the Italian states, and kicked Austria out of Italy. -
Egyptian Campaign (Red)
The French campaign in Egypt was a defeat for France. The French were deep into Egypt then was pushed back because of a major loss in the Battle of the Nile. -
French Consulate (Green)
This is where Napoleon got his power. This changed the government, to the government Napoleon ran on as Emperor. -
Banque de France (Green)
The Banque de France was established for economic recovery over the French Revolution. The institution was in charge with France’s money. -
Concordat of 1801 (Green)
This concordat between France and the Catholic Church, restored church lands to the Church, and give back the rights of the Pope to the Church in France. This agreement was though more for political purposes on Napoleon’s part. -
Consul for Life (Green)
A new constitutional amendment was made, that Napoleon was the first consul for life. This is only a part of his rise to power. -

Napoleonic Wars (Red)
A series of global conflicts (mainly in Europe). Napoleon I (Napoleon Bonaparte) wanted France to control of all of Europe. -
Napoleonic Code (Yellow)
Was based on the Roman Empires Code of Laws. It had Criminal Law, and Civil Law. It gave men equal rights, but deprived women and of illegitimate children any rights. There was also religious toleration, but colonial slavery was reinstated. -
Declared Himself Emperor (Green)
Napoleon Bonaparte declared himself emperor after a bloody civil war, the French Revolution. He became a dictator. -
Battle of Trafalgar (Red)
The British destroyed any plans of Napoleon’s invasion of Great Britain. The Spanish and French combined fleet was demolished by England’s smaller fleet. -
Abolished Holy Roman Empire (Green)
Emperor Francis II, emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, steps down as Emperor. This happened after a military defeat by a French Army under Napoleon. -
Continental System (Red)
The system was to stop trading with Great Britain. The economy all around Europe began to fall. It led to Russia no longer being a ally to France. -
Resistance in Spain (Red)
France turned on it’s ally Spain by invading after the occupation of Portugal which is called the Peninsula War. It led to a bloody war for independence from France with the backing of the British. It was a revolt with guerrilla warfare tactics. -
Invasion of Russia (Red)
In the effort to force Russia back into the Continental blockade of the United Kingdom, Napoleon tried to invade Russia. The invasion was a failure. -
Battle of Nations at Leipzig (Red)
Napoleon lost a good bit of his forces in the Battle of Leipzig. This led to him losing Germany, and this will be the start of his down fall. -
Hundred Days (Green)
Napoleon, after being exiled on the island of Elba, returned back to Paris. Napoleon managed to gain support of his former armies, and restored his place in French Society, as Emperor of France. -
Battle of Waterloo (Red)
The British defeated Napoleon and his Army in now day Waterloo, Belgium. This defeat ended Napoleon’s rule as Emperor of France. -
Abdication (Red)
Napoleon resigned, after being forced to do so. He was no longer the Emperor of France.
