Napoleon's Birth
Napoleon is born Napoleone Buonaparte in Ajaccio, on the Mediterranean island of Corsica, which lies to the west of Italy. The island comes under French rule this same year. Napoleon later adopts the French spelling of his name, Napoléon Bonaparte.---"Wow that's great a new person is born, I wonder what he's going to do in life!!" -
Napoleon Becomes An Officer
After completing his education in France, Napoleon joins the French military, becoming an artillery officer.---"I'm excited to see how the new officer is going to lead the military!!" -

The French Revolution begins, and Napoleon sides with the revolutionaries. He fights in the French Revolutionary Wars and in 1793 is promoted to brigadier general.---"Finally we can relax from all the war that was going on" -
Napoleon Gets Married
Napoleon marries Joséphine Tascher de La Pagerie, the widow of General Alexandre de Beauharnais, in March 1796. He subsequently leads French forces to a series of victories against the Austrians in northern Italy.---"Oh I'm so happy, I really hope they have a great life as a married couple." -
Napoleon Becomes Emperor
Napoleon declares France a hereditary empire and crowns himself emperor under the name Napoleon I.---"At last a new ruler, I wonder what his first orders as emperor will be." -
Napoleon Gets Divorced
The divorce ceremony took place in January 1810 and was a grand but solemn social occasion. Both Josephine and Napoleon read a statement of devotion to the other.---"It was to come for, we all knew that Josephine wasn't happy with Napoleon." -
Napoleon Attempts To Invade Russia
Napoleon begins an ill-fated invasion of Russia. He reaches Moscow in September but finds the city abandoned. A huge fire breaks out that same day, destroying the greater part of the town.---"Oh no, we all know how this is gonna end. Russia has a significantly larger army." -
Napoleon Gets Exiled
Napoleon is forced to abdicate on April 6 and is forced into exile on the island of Elba, off the west coast of Italy.---"Oh god I hope we can finally get the France we want. I just want to be done with all these wars." -
Napoleon Returns And Gets Exiled Again
Napoleon manages to muster a force and returns to France to reestablish himself as emperor for the Hundred Days, but he is decisively defeated at the Battle of Waterloo on June 18. Four days later, Napoleon abdicates for the last time. He is exiled again, this time to Saint Helena, an island in the South Atlantic Ocean.---"When will he end this madness?! He should just leave and let us be happy without him!!" -
Napoleon Dies
Napoleon dies on Saint Helena.---"Oh well, at least he won't be able to come back. We can finally be happy!"
