By age 30, Napoleon Bonaparte took control of France in 1799 by military takeover ('coup d'etat'). -
The signing of the Concordant
Napoleon signed the Concordant in 1801, creating peace with the Catholic church, and creating a standard set of laws known as the Napoleonic Code. -
Napoleon: The emperor
Napoleon crowned himself emperor in 1804 at the age of 35. -
Exile
Napoleon was exiled twice. The first was to Elba in 1814, and the second to St. Helena in 1815. -
Congress of Vienna
The Congress of Vienna was created so no one like Napoleon would ever be able to gain power again. They re-structure countries around France so that it will never be conquered. -
Death
Napoleon was never agin able to gain any power, much less the power he once had. He died in 1821 from stomach cancer.
