Napoleon crowned himself Emperor Napoleon I on 2 December 1804 at Notre Dame de Paris. Napoleon seized the crown out of the hands of Pope Pius VII during the ceremony and crowned himself. -

After Napoleon conquered Germany, he made some of the German states the Confederation of the Rhine. -
France invedes Spain and Portugal

Papal States and The Pope in prison
Napoleon makes the Papal States part of the French empire and imprisoned the Pope. -
Great Britain
France could not defeat the British Navy, so Napoleon placed an embargo on Great Britain, so the states in France's empire could not trade with Britain. Unfortunatly, the French people neeed trade with the British, so many didn't obey the embargo. -
France Invades Russia, Moscow, and the French Freeze
Napoleon organized 600,000 soldiers to attack Russia, the largest army the world has seen thus far. The Russians used the scorched earth policy in the Russian campaign. The Russians only fought one battle in this entire ordeal, instead, they retreated deeper in Russia.Napoleon reached Moscow in September. The French had to retreat, however, after Moscow was almost entirely burned to the ground, so the French didnt have any food or shelter. The bitter Russian winter killed 5/6 of the French Army. -
Allies Join Together
Napoleon quickly raised another army after his was dealt with in Russia, but the soldiers were not well trained. They were defeated by the allied forces of Austria, Prussia, Russia, and Great Britain. This was the 1st time that these countries had joined together to fight Napoleon. -
Allies take Paris
Afer the Allies took Paris from the French, Napoleon was forced to step down from the thrrone. He was exiled to the island of Elba off the coast of Italy. He somehow scrapped together an army and retook control of France as Emperor. He reigned for 100 more
days. -
Waterloo
The Allies, under the leadership of the Duke of Wellington, finally defeated Napoleon in 1815 at the Battle of Waterloo. -
Napoleon's Death
After he was defeated at the Battle of Waterloo, he was sent to the island of St. Helena off the coast of Africa and spent the rest of his days there.
