On October 11, 1795, Napoleon saves the National Assembly in the French Revolution. In Paris, France, Napoleon stopped a crowd of rebels by shooting guns all at once in different directions. By stopping the rebels, Napoleon saved the National Assembly, became a hero, and gained the government's trust. On March 21, 1804, Napoleon introduces the Napoleonic Code to France. The Napoleonic Code is a set of laws that restricted some rights of the people. This event is significant because it is one of the first major events during Napoleon's reign as Empereor (Henderson 8). -
Emperor
On December 2, 1804, Napoleon crowns himself Emperor of France. He takes over France and becomes one of the most powerful people in the world. This event is significant because Napoleon gains even more power. Also, Napoleon is at the peak of his power, and everything that comes after this event is leading to him being exiled (Henderson 8). -
Confederation of the Rhine
On July 12, 1806, Napoleon creates the Confederation of the Rhine. This replaces the Holy Roman Empire. This is significant because Napoleon adds more territory to his empire. (Henderson 8). -
Beethoven's 5th Symphony
In 1808, Beethovens 5th Symphony is performed. He performs it for the first time in Vienna, Austria. This event is significant because Beethovens 5th Symphony is one of the most famous songs of all time ("1800–1899 (A.D.) World History."). -
Marriage
On January 19, 1810, Napoleon marries his second wife Marie Louise of Austria. Together, they have a son- Napoleon II. This event is significant because Napoleon can pass down his power to his son and continue their dynasty (Heuston 8). -
1st Abdication
On April 14, 1814, Napoleon abdicates the French throne. He is also exiled to Elba and he doesnt return for almost a year. This event is significant because this is the beginning of Napoleon's decline (Henderson 8). -
St Helena
On July 15, 1815, Napoleon is exiled a second time to St Helena. He lost at the battle of Waterloo which caused him to be exiled. This is significant because Napoleon spends the rest of his life on St Helena (Heuston 122). -
Death
Napoleon dies on May 5, 1821. He dies on St Helena at the age of 51. This is significant because this is the day the Age of Napoleon ends (Heuston 1821).
