The British Navy defeated Napoleon's forces in this battle. Napoleon had always wanted to conquer Great Britain, but was defeated at this battle. Napoleon would wait until another day to try to invade Great Britain once again. -
Continental System
The Continental System was created by Napoleon to stop the trade of good by Great Britain. To do this, he set up a big blockade of ships, so other ships couldn't pass. This however did not stop trade of Great Britain. Goods were snuck in and still sold for profit. -
Napoleon's Campaign in Russia
Napoleon attempted to invade Russia, which was a very bad choice for the leader. Napoleon's army is pushing into Russia, when they reach Moscow. The Russians had used a "scorched earth" tactic. This means they burnt down farms and buildings, so there was no food or supplies for the French. The Russians then waited for winter to approach. When a huge amount of Napoleon's troops were killed by the cold, Russia attacked, and the French retreated. -
Napoleon Becomes a General in the French Army
Showing his impressive military skill and strategy, Napoleon is promoted to general in the French Army. This was a big step in power within the military for Napoleon -
Napoleon is Exiled and Sent to Elba
Napoleon, who attempted suicide and avoided assassination, was exiled to a small island called Elba. When Napoleon was no longer leader, the country turned into chaos. The leader was weak, the people were unhappy, and Napoleon was wanted back. This shows how much the people liked and needed Napoleon. -
The Battle of Waterloo
Napoleon returns to France, a hero, and the other opposing countries realize this and want him gone. They form an alliance, and attack the French. This is Napoleon's last stand and battle as leader, a battle which he lost. -
Exiled to St.Helena
Napoleon is exiled to St.Helena. He is no longer leader and he stays there for about 6 years. -
The Death of Napoleon
Napoleon had a disease which did not have a cure at the time. The cause of his death is not certain, but most likely illness. Napoleon was and still is a well known military leader who helped expand and make France a powerful country.
