    Mario Kart Wii
Mario Kart Wii (Oyagi, 2008) released in 2008 was game-changing for Mario Kart being the first game in the franchise to introduce motion controls. Mario Kart Wii was the first video game I remember playing as a family. Everyone had their favourite character to play as and their kart. My sister and I were not very good however always had a blast playing together until we were in last. Oyagi, Y (director). (2008). Mario Kart Wii [video game]. Nintendo
  • Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Snow Princess

Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Snow Princess
Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Snow Princess (Jacobsen, 2008) released in 2008 was the first video game I remember playing ever on our Wii. Growing up my sister and I loved watching Dora. Safe to say that game lived up to the hype when I was little as it was a common request of mine. Having played the game in recent years I understand why I loved it as a kid given the use of motion controls. Jacobsen, A. (Director). (2008). • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Aonuma, 2006) originally released on the game Cube in 2006 is the first instalment in the Zelda franchise I remember engaging with with. Mum and her best friend (Tammy) would play Twilight Princess during the school holidays with my sister and I sitting on the floor eagerly watching. All of my early video gaming memories come from watching my Mum and Tammy playing the different Zelda games on Wii and WiiU during the holidays.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Aonuma, 2017) was the first game I played on the Nintendo Switch when released in 2017. The excitement when first seeing the text appearing on the screen calling for Link to wake up and seeing the world of Hyrule for the first time made for a new gaming experience I hadn't had before. Breath of the Wild is a game I commonly enjoy coming back to play. Aonuma, E. (director). (2017). The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild [video game]. Nintendo.
  • Five Crowns

    Five Crowns
Five Crowns (Set Enterprises, 1996) is a strategic rummy-style card game that utilises 2 decks of cards with an additional suit, star. Released in 1996, I learnt how to play Five Crowns from a family friend after the suggestion to learn the game from their builders. We spent many afternoons playing Five Crowns to the point of purchasing a notebook that became the dedicated to keeping track of out score and writing any funny comments or hissy fits while playing.
  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons

    Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Kyogoku, 2020) was the first game I played in the Animal Crossing franchise. Coming out in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic this game was perfect. I was able to catch up with friends while playing the game from home as well as creating an escape that I was in full control of. I have restarted this game many times to relive the simplicity of the first week of island life and the happy memories it brought me.
  • Cribbage

    Cribbage
Cribbage (Suckling, 17th Century) a board game believed to have been created in the 17th Century by Sir John Suckling who was an English Poet and Gambler is the most recent board game I learnt. Our close family friends play a wide variety of board games that we enjoying playing with each other during holidays. Having learnt Crib I have become a huge fan due to the unique scoring system that requires strategy and quick thinking as well as the memories spent on holidays playing Crib together.
