In Kindergarten, the teacher often put on special songs to help us memorize our days of the week and months of the year. My teacher, Ms. Ecalnir, would also use it to teach songs and dances.

In third grade, my teacher would herd us into the computer lab for learning "technology skills" and also to give herself some much-needed prep time. In the computer lab, we learned vital skills, such as how to navigate the computer with a mouse, and how to type. Mavis Beacon, we would be lost without you.

Many students my age might remember the happy day when the teacher wheeled in TV and put in a video cassette tape. This was often used to supplement a lesson or topic that the teacher had gone over that week.

Occasionally, the teacher would lend out computer games and "Living Books" loaded on to CD-ROMS to students to use in the computer lab. These disks read books to us and encouraged us to explore the screen with our computer mouse. My personal favorite was "Sheila Rae the Brave".

When I was in eighth grade, my teacher replaced her overhead projector and transparency sheets for a new Hitachi Starboard. Using this device, our teacher could ask us math questions and we could walk up to the tablet to write our answers, which would then display them on a large projector screen.
