The Vietnam war was seen as a dark spot in U.S. History, but it played a key role in my life when my Grandfather signed up to join. The attack on the U.S. in 2001 lead to an increase in security in the U.S. The increase in security not only made travel safer, it possibly saved the life of my cousin, when it prevented a man from bringing a switchblade aboard his flight to New York four years after the attack, the man was already previously charged for assault, and if allowed on the flight, would have sat next to my cousin.
  • Facebook launch

Facebook was a huge success, leading to mass connection all over the world. When my brother had moved away, Facebook was my only connection to him for a period of 11 months. As insignificant as a social media website can seem, the connections it lead to were much more important.
  • iPhone Launch

The launch of the iPhone was a major event in globalization. It lead to an increase in popularity with many websites, and apps. It has a key role in the connections that people share internationally. It was through an iPhone, on facebook that my mom reconnected with my step-father.
  • Obamacare

Obamacare was released to help those without medical insurance. When my brother was seriously injured at home, the medical act was one of the only advantages he had at the time, and allowed him to be treated at a reduced cost.
