    Designed by John Karidis, it was one of the early forms of laptops that had a full-size keyboard and a slightly larger screen. It was able to fold out sliding pieces to form a keyboard. It helped bring the idea of using a full-size keyboard with a bigger screen instead of having a small screen.

    Sony launched a new brand of computers by the name Vaio, which was introduced in the global market in 1996. This was one of the known laptops that helped bring forth modern-day laptops. This includes web cameras and television/radio turners.

    This was the year that Wi-Fi Alliance branded and trademarked Wi-Fi, which is very known in today's time. This was also the same year that Apple created routing machines to connect with their products like the Mac. Wi-Fi is still used today, especially with many technologies needing wifi to connect to the web or to be able to communicate with other devices.
