This was the year that Wi-Fi Alliance branded and trademarked Wi-Fi, which is very known in today's time. This was also the same year that Apple created routing machines to connect with their products like the Mac. Wi-Fi is still used today, especially with many technologies needing wifi to connect to the web or to be able to communicate with other devices.
