I'll never forget getting the Nintendo DS as a gift. We were preparing to head to China to adopt my baby sister when my parents gifted me this for the long plane ride. It was a great way to keep me entertained. Photo from Wikipedia -
As technology came out it seemed like my parents enjoyed getting us these new gadgets for Christmas! I was so excited for the Wii. I loved all the games you could play with it. I spent a lot of time doing the boxing, bowling, hunting and some dancing games. I actually miss playing this. Photo from Wikipedia -
Myspace was the first popular social media that I used. It was so fun designing our profile and putting a song on our profile. I'll never forget being able to select your top 5 friends and how much drama that would create. I'm honestly glad we moved away from this platform. Photo from The Guardian -
It feels like facebook has been around so long now that its almost hard to remember a time without it. I enjoy facebook because it allows me connect with friends and family all over. I love seeing everyone's pictures. I don't like when people share their dirty laundry on the platform though. Photo from Freebie Supply -
Pinterest is another site/app that feels like it has been around forever. I remember when I was younger I would pin stuff about my dream wedding. I still use this platform today to pin a lot of recipes, teaching content, and parenting/kid activities. It has been a great resource to find ideas. Photo from Wikipedia -
Skype was one of the first vidoe chat systems. I remember when my parents when to China to get my second adopted sister. My first sister and I had to stay home. The only way we could communicate with my family at the time was through email and skype. I loved being able to use skype to talk with my new sister and family. Photo from Wikipedia. -
I got my very first iPhone for Christmas! This was so exciting and fun! I loved having technology right at my fingertips. It made accessing social media and contacting friends so much easier. Photo from Wikipedia. -
I created my first instagram and made a post! This platform is very popular to this day but has changed a lot. When I first joined people didn't really use hashtags and reels were not a thing. It is pretty neat to see how much it has changed over time. I like it more than facebook at times because I don't seem to encounter as much negativity on it. Photo from Wikipedia. -
Off to college means I needed a laptop! I chose the macbook air because I was already familiar with apple since I had an iPhone. I liked that it wasn't very common to get viruses and it was lightweight. I am still using this laptop. She has more bruises than we began but she has helped me tackle all of my college courses. I had been wanting an apple watch for awhile. I remember celebrating Christmas with my parents and they surprised me with one. I used the same apple watch up until a couple years ago when my son misplaced it. I looked forever and couldn't find it. I decided to buy a new one and then a week later I found the old one hidden in his toy dump truck. I still love my apple watch. I use it daily as a teacher so I'm not constantly having to pick up my phone. Photo from Wikipedia. -
I quickly discovered that the traditional college life was not meant for me. I decided to attend online. GCU was a new beginning and the courses were all online. We used blackboard just as we do here. I'm thankful I've been able to complete college online. Photo from Wikipedia. -
My husband works 24 hours shifts which means I'm home a lot with the kids by myself. I decided to purchase a blink camera system to keep track on any activity outside of my home. I feel much safer thanks to this technology. Photo from safehome.org -
I can't believe how far we've come with technology in such a short period of time. I can't imagine where it will continue to take us. It continues to evolve. We are starting our kids off younger and younger. Next year my daughter will be in kindergarten and will have her own chromebook. Wild! Technology has allowed me to meet many people, grow professionally and personally. Fun Fact: The Internet helped bring my husband and I together. Another reason I am thankful for social media.
