My Technology Adventure

  • My First Atari

    My First Atari
My first video game was the Atari 2600. My sister and I received it as a Christmas present in 1982. Our favorite game to play was Space Invaders. My dad was working nights and my mom would stay up late playing Space Invaders. We played the Atari so much that we needed to replace it after a few years.

    My First Computer
For my 10th birthday I received my first computer. My parents had bought me a Tandy Color 3 computer from Radio Shack. I was the first kid in our neighborhood to have a computer, so I was super cool. Although at first I only played games on the Tandy, I soon began to fall in love with computers.

  • Sony Discman

    Sony Discman
The Sony Discman was the ultimate Christmas present for a 12 year old girl in the 1980's. I couldn't wait to get rid of those cassette tapes that constantly raveled out. These sleek new compact discs were awesome. Image from awesome.http://www.preservationsound.com/?p=7626

IBM Computers at Sherman High School
During my sophomore year of high school, I was taking a coding class. We received four new IBM PS/2 computers that year. I spent countless hours after school finishing coding assignments on those computers. They were lightening fast compared to their predecessors. Image from Wikipedia

The Evolution of Social Media - MySpace
All my friends were raving about this new form of social media called MySpace. At first I was skeptical, but I soon was being connected with old friends from across the United States. It allowed you to add photos and chat with others like never before. Image from forbes.com

Ipad and Apple TV for the classroom
In August 2011, my school district provided Social Studies teachers with a classroom Ipad and an Apple TV. We used that first Ipad to create digital cartoons, interactive timelines, and maps in our classroom. That year was a learning experience for me as a teacher. The students came up with excellent ideas on how to use the Ipad and Apple TV in the classroom. Image courtesy of Wikipedia.
