  • Li'l Tiggers Preschool

    Li'l Tiggers Preschool
    1 taught at "Li'l Tiggers Preschool" as part of my high school Child Care course at Oroville High School. I learned how to write lesson plans for activities like story time and that a good lesson isn't enough-- you have to connect!
  • Cardon Arbor View School

    Cardon Arbor View School
    2002-2003 Taught French and Music and Movement in a kindergarten class at Cardon Arbor View School as my work study job in college. My favorite part was teaching authentic Native American dances for the Thanksgiving show.

    2004-2005 Tutored at Vina Danks Middle School, helping students with reading and writing skills and tracking their individual growth
  • Lindamood-Bell Learning Centers

    Lindamood-Bell Learning Centers
    2005 Taught reading through intensive one -on-one sessions of programs proven to change neural pathways and help students make significant growth in short periods. At Lindamood-Bell I learned how to teach decoding and spelling skills, how to tailor instruction to the needs of the child, and how to come up with questions using HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) on the fly.

    2005-2006 Acted as Director of Education at a Sylvan Learning Center, which meant testing creating a plan for, and monitoring the growth of students in English and math. I learned to communicate well with parents and experienced meetings with students' teachers from the other side.

    2006-2007 My first year with my own classroom. I was an intern teacher at San Gorgonio High School and taught freshman and junior English. I have never worked harder, she'd more tears, or been prouder of my accomplishments, including planing field trips to extend learning units, working with my amazing SLC (Smaller Learning Community) to run a mock Kyoto summit as part of an interdisciplinary Problem Based Learning unit and creating yearbooks just for our students.
  • Teaching in Ecuador

    Teaching in Ecuador
    2007-2008 Lived abroad in Ecuador for a year and taught second grade English, ESL, and college writing. I also learned Spanish and came back much better equipped to help my language learners.
  • Return to San Gorgonio

    Return to San Gorgonio
    2008-2015 Returned to San Gorgonio High School and taught freshman English in a technology SLC and an AVID SLC before taking over AP English Literature, teaching the ERWC curriculum created by the CSUs, and creating a dance course and curriculum from scratch. I continued to hone my curriculum writing skills and built great relationships as the advisor to multiple clubs.
  • Del Campo High School

    Del Campo High School
    2015- Present-- I moved to Sacramento and became a Del Campo Cougar, teaching on a 4x4 block for the first time. In addition to dance, I am teaching 10th grade and have now had students at every level of high school.
