Branson, MO
This past summer, I went to Branson, MO for my vacation. It was a long ride there having to sit with 3 other girls in the back seat of a Cadillac. After around 5 hours of driving, we finally reached Stormy Point, the place we were staying at. It was like a big village that shared a pool towards the entrance. At the pool, we met a few new friends from different places, like Ryan Andrews who lives in Arkansas. My step sister Janelle and I think it's cool to get to meet new, state foreign people. -

Freshman Year
As the year comes to a close, it is time to reflect on and celebrate the moments that made it memorable, and to commemorate them in a lasting tribute. Your assignment is to create a timeline of this school year using Time Toast (http://www.timetoast.com). See an example at: http://www.timetoast.com/timelines/its-the-climb. -
Payton
On this day in the summer, I started a relationship with my boyfriend, Payton. We've been dating ever since then to now and are still going strong. This month on May 16th, it will have been 10 months in a relationship. I think it is kind of cool dating him because we are both twins. -
The Twins Birthday
Today, my brother Aaron and I turned 15. For our birthday, we got to bring one friend each and go to The Great Wolf Lodge. During that time, my softball tryouts had already started the day before, so I had to leave early that night just to go to my tryouts so I'd have a better chance at making the team and earning the coaches respect. -
Softball
I've been playing softball since the teeball league when I was 6. This year, I started playing for the school, Benton. I made the junior varsity team, along with most freshman. I usually play in left field, but I could play anywhere in the outfield. I made a lot of good plays in the season, with help from the coaches since they taught me well. I've improved a lot ever since starting at Benton. -
Capitalization
At the beginning of the school year, we took a capitalization quiz. I thought I knew what I was doing, but when we got the results, I realized I failed. After that test, we learned more about the different rules of it and I learned to use capitalization better. -
Radiance
This book, by Alyson Noel, is a side book to the series "The Immortals". Instead of talking about the main character Ever, it tells the story of her little sister, Riley Bloom. She died in a car accident, but still lives in another world and contacts her sister somehow. Riley lives in the world with her dog to keep her company and visit her parents in different parts of that world. I found this book very convenient since I didn't know much about how that world worked in the real series. -
Kissed By an Angel
I found this book at borders one day and thought the cover was pretty, so I got it. I know you're not supposed to judge a book by it's cover, but this was a good judgement. I really liked this book and wish to read the rest of the series when I can. -
New Places, New Friends, New Happiness
Starting off at benton, I was nervous and scared to go to my classes and see people I wasn't so social with. After so long of school, I had made many new friends throughout my classes. I got more comfortable with my classmates and our relationships grew stronger. As of now, I know I'm going to be missing a lot more people this summer than I would have been at the beginning of the freshman year. -
T-REX
In communication arts class, we learned the T-REX system of truths. This helped me understand how to find and write truths of things better and easier. One truth I wrote at the beginning of the year for this T-REX was, "Do something good and good things will come back at you." From this time to now, I know I've gotten better at truths and will continue to do so. -
Stereotypes
For stereotypes, we used The Breakfast Club as an example for learning this better. Stereotypes are when you judge someone based on their looks. In The Breakfast Club, there was a jock, rebel, beauty, brain, and a recluse. When we first watched this, we didn't get to listen to the sound, and we had to guess which was which. Just by looking at them, most people got them all right because of stereotypes. -
Lost Cat
My favorite cat, Pearl, was lost around this day. One day, Spencer came over to spend the night with Aaron, and when he left, he left the door open and both my cats got out. One came back, but not Pearl. After a couple of days of waiting, we put up posters of her around St. Joe and talked to the animal pound about it. Everyday I was hoping she'd show up, but she never has. I still do with the little hope I have left, but the best I can hope for is that someone found her and gave her a good home. -
Maximum Ride: Angel
This book is by James Patterson. He did a really good job on creating this book and keeping my attention on it throughout. Max, the main character, has a humorous personality that makes you laugh. All of the characters are young teens and children so it's easy to connect with it. I would consider this my favorite series of books. -
Selling My House
My family and I have been looking for a new house to move into for a while now. We finally found a good one that we all liked out by Dekalb in the country. The problem now is that we have to sell ours. We've had it on the market for a long time, put up ads and had an open house, but haven't had any serious offers. Right now doesn't seem like a good time for house selling. (My house; picture at left) -
Mockingjay
This book by Suzanne Collins was the last book in the Hunger Games series. Out of the three books, I enjoyed reading the second was the best. Mockingjay is my least favorite because it kept on telling the story in one part in a lot of the book, which I thought was boring. This was the part at the beginning of the battle they had, before the big action started. -
The Green Birthday
My dad was born a "St. Patrick's" baby. He gets a free pass from getting pinched on this day because of his birthday, so he doesn't have to wear green.
My dad isn't the only holiday born baby. My mom's holiday, while not so popular, is Flag Day on June 14th. My brother and I were born in the only non-holiday month of the year, August. We found it weird that it happened that way. -
STUCO
For student council next year, I was chosen by some teachers to sign up for student council since I didn't sign up myself. There has already been a few meetings and elections for our members that I went to. There were a couple meetings at the end that I missed that were important to be there for, but I missed them. I was sad about it and really hope they still accept me into the council. -
Dialogue
For about the last unit we had, we learned to use dialogue better. For one assignment, we had a conversation with a partner about a certain subject.
“Here’s my assignment Mrs. A. Sorry it’s late,” said Brooke.
“Well since it is so late, I won’t grade it cause it was due a while back,” said the Teacher
“But I still did the assignment. You should just grade it off that. I should get points for doing it,” mentioned Brooke.
“I know you still did the assignment, but you should have turned.." -
Water for Elephants
For my step-sister's birthday, we went to the Hollywood theater to watch Water for Elephants. My mom, Janelle, and I all read the book before so we understood everything that was going on better. It really connected with the book well and wasn't too much different in parts, except cutting some details. Overall, I really liked the movie. -
A Small Soldier
This writing piece was one of my best stories in my opinion throughout my freshman year. It was probably my longest story I've written before, and I even finished quicker than I thought. While resesarching, I learned a lot of things that I didn't know before, such as the timespan of the Civil War: 1861-1865. -
My Truth of the Year
"Great things take time, but diligence is one priority needed in taking the steps toward accomplishing your ambitions." For my war story, it was time consuming and took some work. I learned that if I really did my work in the time that I had, it definitely made a difference on how much I got done. I was really satisfied with what I came up with.
