My Reading Growth in 7th Grade

  • Crispin

    Crispin
In the second novel of the Crispin series we watch as Crispin is faced with new threats and meets new friends as he continues his journey with his master/ friend Bear. Because of this Crispin also learned a little more about friendship and how to truly be friends with someone throughout the novel. As well as who and who not to trust and how to survive as a exile. I didn't really enjoy this novel because of the slow pace and the long periods of no action. I rate this 2 out of 5 stars.
  • Vampire Academy

    Vampire Academy
In this amazing novel we meet a fierce and courageous girl named Rose Hathaway. Rose is a determined teen who won't stop until she gets what she wants. In this case she has to prove herself so she can become her best friends guardian and keep her out of trouble.Rose goes on adventures and stirs up trouble for not only herself but all of her friends. In the classic "The Outsiders," the main character ponyboy has a hard time figuring out his life. He is a greaser on the streets and a straight A student in school. Ponyboy has a interesting family at home which makes it hard to do good at school but also maintain a greaser reputation with his friends. He runs away with his friend johnny to get away from everything-including his hard life- but it turns out it was the worst decision of his life. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
  • Frostbite

    Frostbite
In this chilling novel Rose has to take matters into her own hands. After a jealous friend runs away from the ski lodge the Academy students have been staying in , Rose has to go after him before he fights strigoi -bad vampires. After tracking him down, Rose and her friends find themselves in a sticky situation, one that might get them killed.I loved how this book ended in a bang making the reader want to read the next book. I rate this book 5 out 5 stars.
  • The Westing Game

    The Westing Game
After receiving a letter in the mail, 16 tenants move into a sunset towers. Then after a reading of Samuel Westing will we find that he has left a game for the tenants to play. They had to solve a riddle and find his murderer for the estate he left behind. I really didn't like how the author changed the narrator without showing that the narrator changed, you had to guess or try to figure it out. This made the novel more challenging. I rate this novel 4 out of 5 stars.
  • Shadow Kissed

    Shadow Kissed
In this action packed novel Rose recently discovered the ghost of her dead friend has come back to haunt her, or so she thinks. He comes back to tell her that she has a connection to the underworld because she is shadow kissed-which means she died and was brought back life with magic. He also warns her of a attack that was about to take place on the Academy. I love how fast pace these books are, as well as how action packed they are. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars
  • The Giver

    The Giver
In the giver we meet a smart and creative child named Jonas. He is very special in his community because he has the power to see beyond. This ability is part of the reason of why Jonas was selected to be the community's Receiver.I didn't like how the novel ends because it really lefted me unsure about what happened to Jonas. I rate this novel 3 out of 5 stars.
  • Self Assement

I feel that I have grown as a reader from the beginning of the year. I can easily infer what words mean based on the words around it, and I can pick up on the conflict, plot, etc., easier. Next year I would like to expand a little more on my vocabulary as well as branch out into harder books. Finally I would like to raise my lexile score by maybe 100 or so points.
