The earliest contact was made between Canada and South Korea in the year 1890. The first Korean immgrants to ever live in Canada started in the year 1890. Contact was made through Canadian missionaries working in Korea. -

Increasing number of Koreans Immigrate
An increasing number of Koreans are immigrating to Canada due to economic poverty and conflicts with North Korea. Also Korea is relatively close to Japan who was involved with World War Two at the time. Japan may have been interfering with Korea. -
Korea Splits Up
Korea is now divided into North and South, a result of alligence to the victors of World War Two. South Korea wanted to be allies with the West, while North Korea did not. -
