I first encountered a television when I was 5 years old. After school, we used to go home early so we could watch our favorite cartoons and dramas after dinner. Television is a telecommunication medium for transmitting visual images and sound that are reproduced on screens, chiefly used to broadcast programs for entertainment, information, and education. -
Radio
In early 2013, I was six years old when I was introduced to radio. My grandmother used radio to listen to broadcast news, music, and dramas through the sense of hearing. Radio is a form of mass media and sound communication produced by radio waves. We used the radio if the television signals were weak; it was our way to be entertained by dramas and be informed about weather updates and emergency broadcasts. -
Typewriter
In 2014, we traveled to Cebu to live with our grandparents. It was the first time I was introduced to the typewriter when my grandfather taught me how to use it. A typewriter is a type of media used for filling out forms, typing envelopes, and completing checks by producing letters on paper when the user strikes a key, which forces a steel type to hit a ribbon and transfer ink from that ribbon to the paper. -
Laptop
A laptop was introduced to me by my mother when I was 8 years old. A laptop is a portable computer that is designed for personal use and can perform various functions, like work, education, playing games, web browsing, personal multimedia, and general home computer use. But for my age, I was only able to use my laptop for entertainment, like watching videos and playing games. -
Skype
9 years ago, when I was 8 years old, we had a laptop, and we used Skype as a way to communicate with our father, who is working in a different place. Skype is a software application that allows users to make voice and video calls and chats over the Internet. With the use of Skype, we were still able to communicate despite the long distance. -
Tablet
In 2016, when our cousin visited us, it was the first time I had played games using a tablet. A tablet is a portable electronic device that typically features a touch-sensitive screen and is used for various tasks, such as web browsing, watching videos, reading e-books, playing games, and running applications. It is one of the reasons that made my childhood memorable, as it gives you entertainment and can also be used for education. -
Cellphone
In 2017, I was gifted a cellphone, which was the first time I encountered one. Cellphones are one of the reasons that communication is easier. They are portable devices that connect to a telecommunications network in order to transmit and receive voice, video, or other data. It is also a device that can be used to access social tools, which makes it convenient nowadays. -
Facebook
When I was still young, I was 10 years old when I made an account on Facebook, which is an online social networking service that allows people to share information, photos, videos, and messages with other trusted individuals. Facebook is a convenient way to communicate with your loved ones, as it can help maintain contact with family and friends who might live far away. -
Tiktok
During the pandemic in 2020, when I felt bored, I tried to download TikTok, and it was the first time I first encountered it. TikTok is one of the main reasons I was entertained with videos; it is a social media platform for creating, sharing, and discovering short videos. It allows people to express themselves through singing, dancing, comedy, and lip-syncing, and allows users to create videos and share them across the platform. -
Instagram
In 2021, I was 14 years old when my friend told me to download Instagram. It was at that time that I used Instagram for the very first time to socialize with other users. Instagram lets you send messages to one or more people in chats and can interact with your content via likes, comments, shares, reels, and saves.
