My first reading memory was when my mom came into my preschool class and read The Rainbow Fish. -
When I was younger my parents used to make me read every night for at least 30 minutes. I did this for a few years. In this time I read all of the Big Nate Books -
In school I was always told that I was a talented writer. On occasions my parents and teachers would say I should become a writer. -
In my elementary school they would hold book reader of the month challenges. This challenge was that you read a book in your free time and wrote a summary about said book and turn it in. If you won your summary would get posted to the wall. -
In school we used to get reading logs, where we would have to read for a certain amount of time(30mins - 1 hour) and jot down how many pages we read. I used this time to read a book series called Warriors which I found interesting. -
In High School is where I really picked back up reading. This is because of the interesting books we read in English class like All Quiet on the Western Front and Animal Farm. -
When entering High School is also when I encountered my first real bad grade on a writing assignment. This was the first essay we had to write in CHAL and I was still adjusting into high school life, so I got a D- on the essay. I did not let this discourage me however, because I went on to do better on all other essays. -
AP Lang marks my first AP Reading and Writing course, and I am excited for the challenge and interesting articles it brings!
