My Life Map

  • 9/11

    9/11
September 11th, 2001; a day many will never forget. On this day, the world trade centers got hit with airplanes that were flown by terrorists and caused the start of a war for the United State. This event happened when I was 8 years old and in the initiative vs. guilt stage. My micro-system was impacted because my brother enlisted in the army after the attacks happened and my exo-system was impacted because it was affecting the government and political systems.
  • A trip to El Salvador

    A trip to El Salvador
When I was 12 years old and experiencing the industry vs. inferiority stage of development, my family and I took a trip to El Salvador. This trip impacted my micro-system because we were able to see first hand a completely different culture and country where many were suffering from poverty. Being able to witness life in a third-world country opened up my eyes to what it is like to be a minority in a country and how you must adapt to their environment and way of life.
  • Committing my life to God

    Committing my life to God
In my high school years, when I was 15 years old, I chose to commit myself to the Lord at a church camp called Malibu in Canada. This decision was during my identity vs. role confusion stage of development and I achieved this stage by being able to achieve a sense of identity with my religious beliefs. My micro-system was impacted because I was now firm in my beliefs and my messo-system was impacted because I got connected and involved in a church, which created new friendships for myself.
  • Graduating college

    Graduating college
I graduated from Washington State University when I was 22 years old and experiencing the intimacy and isolation stage of development. The systems that were impacted were my micro- and meso-system. My micro-system was impacted because I was now finished with school, looking to find a job in the workplace. My meso-system was impacted because through my education, I was able to secure a job and has led me to meet new people and grow in my career.
