After consolidating itself as the most winning club in Mexican soccer for more than fifteen years, it went on to fight for not relegation in the 1970-71 season, where it would remain in fourteenth place in the general classification, made up of sixteen teams.
  • Car crash

    In 1981 the team suffered a road accident, the bus that transported the players to the City of Puebla to play against the Camoteros, was run over by a trailer, causing the death of midfielder José Martínez.

    During the first years of the promoter, the club managed to sign footballers such as Alberto Coyote, Eduardo Fernández, Carlos Turrubiates, Alberto García, "El Guamerú", Missael Espinoza, Ramón Ramírez, Daniel Guzmán "El Travieso" and Luis Flores. Thanks to this, the team began to obtain good results, and the nickname of the "Super Chivas" emerged.
