Columbus Arrives in the Bahamas
Event - Christopher Columbus arrived in what is now the Bahamas. Fact Check - The movie accurately portrayed Columbus and his failures when it came to setting up a colony in the new lands. Connection - If it wasn't for Columbus sailing across the ocean at the time he did, who knows where we would be today. Rating - ☆☆☆☆☆ I loved the movie and thought the story was accurately portrayed as they showed all of Columbus's mistakes and failures. -
France invades Austria
EVENT : Napoleon of France invades Austria to attack. FACT CHECK : Napoleon, a French military leader and emperor, did invade Austria after France declared war on the country during the 19th century. CONNECTION : This event relates to the 2016 invasion of Syria by Turkey. RATING : ☆☆☆☆ I give this rating 4 stars because of the accurate representation of France invading Austria, and a few more event. Although they were a bit more silly for entertainment. -
Solomon Becomes Free
EVENT: After being kidnapped into slavery for 12 years, Solomon Northup, also known as Platt, is freed in 1853. FACT CHECK: As said in his book, Solomon was freed in 1853. There are very few differences except the titles. CONNECTION: Solomon's book was a glimpse into the harsh life of being kidnapped into slavery and those today can see the impact of slavery through his writings. RATING: 5 stars. This movie was amazing and very emotional, very real. -
Lincoln is Assinated
EVENT:While in attendance at Ford's Theater, Abe Lincoln was shot and killed. FACT CHECK: Lincoln was assassinated at Ford's Theater by John Wilkes Booth,a Confederate sympathizer. The incident happened only 5 days after the Confederates surrendered. CONNECTION: Presidents after Lincoln, which include John F. Kennedy,James A. Garfield, and William McKinley have also been assassinated. RATING: 4 stars. The movie was interesting but boring and confusing at some parts. -
