My Arrival at Angel Island
Angel Island StoriesI had just arrived at Angel Island and it was great. My mother was with me and we were able to cut in front of everyone else. I planned to go to California and mine for gold. The process there was very strange, they flipped our eyelids up and shined light in them. The sun shined just the same as it did in Russia. I loved the warmth of the area compared to the freezing snow of St. Petersburg. This was truly a new beginning. -

Gold RushI have finally reached the place of the Gold Rush. There are many Chinese and Americans here. I feel alone in this sea of sweat and frustration. My hours are long, hard and I often get shoved into the river by careless fools. Sometimes it seems that they do it on purpose. I only hope that I can strike big. -

Investing in the 1800'sThe miners in the area had flocked to the liquor store like moths to a flame. My associate said that I would get at least 2,000 dollars at the rate it was going by. After I was done there I was going to leave those ruffians and invest in the Eastern steel industry. I had bought my mother a fine silk gown. I thought that it was time to start depositing my money in a bank instead of under the mattress. -

Details on 1800's businessesI had been in business for around adecade when I realized how far I had came. Once I had been a sick boy in St. Petersburg. Then I was a rich American, all thanks to that piece of gold. I had invested in companies over by Philadelphia. I also am running my own business. I've opened a chain of saloons where men can gamble and drink. My mother had grown sick with consumption and I was buying her the best doctors available. Hopefully she would survive. She was my motivation all this time.
