The siege which lasted from September 28 to October 19, 1781 in Yorktown.it ended in the surrender of 7,000 British soldiers and were captured. leading to negotiations between the United States and Great Britain. These negotiations ended in the 1783 Treaty of Paris which declared the United States sovereign and independent.
