They moved to America wit their aunt who had rescently moved to America with a man she met in a dating magazine. They didn't want to move but they didn't have much of a choice. They had sold almost everything the had to stay there and they were running out of things to sell. -

Their aunt moved to Chicago with her new husbamd that she met from the dating magazine and left her sister and her niece alone with no other friends or family around. -
Maya's brother got in a fight
Maya's brother got in a fight at school. The boy was always constantly teasing and picking on her brother. Maya didn't blame him for getting in a fight with the boy. Her brother seriouslu hurt the boy. He had to go to the hospital. Maya didn't see why her brother should get in as much trouble as he was going to so when she had to misds her gymnastics meet to translate for her father and her brothers princeable she changed their words. -

Maya had t miss her gymnastics meet because her little brother got in a fight and her dad and the princable had to have a conference and Maya had to translate for them because her dad doesn't speak english. -
Maya changed what they said
Maya changed the words of what her dad and the princable said so her little brother wouldnt get in trouble. She changed what her dad said to the princable and what the princable said to her dad. Her brother was the only one that knew she changed it and he thanked her once they got home. -
Maya got caught in the arms of an American boy
Maya got caught in the arms of an American boy after her gymnastics practice. Her and her freidn were being picked up by these two boy and Maya like the boy who was picking her up. Then her father drove by and he saw what she was doing. Maya didnt even have time to tell him to put her down. Her father was outragous and yelled at her to get in the cab. They went home and Maya was in lots of trouble. Her mother and father were very outraged at her for what she had done. -
Maya started doing her mother's work
Maya's mother had fell at work and hurt her anckle and she couldn't work. She cleaned people's houses for work so, when Maya got out of school she wuld go to the houses that her mother was suppose to be cleaning and she cleaned them until 6:30. Then she had to come home everyday and make dinner. She was more tired than she had ever been but her mother and father thought it was the best way to m ake up for actions. -
Maya wangted to go to the dance at her school
Maya had got a permission slip at school for a dance and she wanted to go but she knew her parents wouldn't sign it. So she didn't even try. She showed her brother the slip to show him how to spell for his homework. He asked about it and he said thta he would ask their father about it and try to get her to go. So he did and he said she could go but only if her little brother came. -
Maya 's mom gave her a gift
Maya's mom gave her a bracelet that she had gotten when she went to her first dance. She was 16 when she went to her first dance. She said that people dance younger in America so she would get it now. Maya was very grateful and she thanked her mother. She wanted to hug her very badly but where they're from you dont really hug people so, she just thanked her. -
Maya went to the dance
Maya went to the dance and her little brother sat in a chair the whole time. He was watching people spin around in a garbage can. When Maya and Daniel danced her little brother went to the bathroom. Maya thanked him when they got back home and she was very grateful.
