My Crazy Life

  • My Birth

    My Birth
I've heard the story of my birth so many times, I know it by heart. My mom went into labor December 23rd, but didn't feel a thing. She went about her day normally, until late that night when she started to feel "bad stomach cramps,". When she got to the hospital the doctor announced she was 4 cm, and I was due in a few hours. At 12:45 am I came into this world not crying, but with my eyes wide open. And the emotional rollercoaster I call my life began
  • The Big Move

    The Big Move
My parents and my brother were born and raised in New York City, my father Brooklyn, my mother and brother the Bronx. I was born in the Bronx as well, and live there for the first few years of my life. But my dad didn't want me living in the city. He hated the fact my brother was exposed to the harsh reality that was the downtown Bronx. My brother, 10 years older then me, faced gangs, and less-then-stellar schooling everyday. Dad wanted me to have a more-sheltered life, and so, we moved here.

    Una Familia, Grande y Loca
When I was 11, my family left for a family reunion. It was the first time I met my met my mothers side of the family. I didn't know anyone there besides my parents and uncles and aunts that live close enough for regular visits. I felt out of place among my own family. I was a nervous mess. It wasn't until my mother "suggested" I go on the blow up water slide with the other kids, that I started to have fun. For the first time in my life, I learned it how to come out of my shell.
  • A Death In The Family.

    A Death In The Family.
What started as a normal Thursday night quickly turned into a nightmare. I was in my room watching TV when I heard the scream. It was my mother, hysterical, yelling at my father face down on their bed room floor, and not responding. I called 911, and they took my father to Putnam Hospital. I don't know how long I waited in that waiting room, numb to my core. My brother came to get me and I felt my world shatter. "Selena, Papi's dead"

A New Member of the Family
I believe this little puff saved my family. Her name is Chloe, she's a toy poodle-Shitzu mix. She was given to us by a family friend a little while after my father passed, during which my mother stayed strong, but for how long no one knew. The moment they met it was love at first sight. This little dog gave my mother comfort and happiness Pj, my brother, and I didn't know how to give her at the time. This ball of fluff brought back light we had lost with her playful nature. And she doesn't know.
  • The Crash

    The Crash
Me and my mother were heading home from K-fest, some radio-concert, I don't really remember. I had my headphones on, slowly killing my ears, when I felt a jerk and the world went black. I woke up on the side of the road, right-side up, looking at a broken windshield, a smoking hood, and I couldn't breathe. I looked down at my hand, and saw a piece of glass had cut me. I had 12 stitches in that hand. My mother wasn't so lucky. She shattered her ankle, and fractured her 2nd vertebra. She was lucky.
