The battle of Bunkerhill
After the Battles of Lexington and Concord, two armies faced one another in Boston, the Army of New England, and the British Army. The New England Militia had surrounded Boston and the British army occupied it. -
November
Tim, is walking home from church when he runs into one of his brother Sams old friends Tom. Tom tells him that he has been hiding Sam for the last couple days and that he should go visit him. -
Tim delivers a seal letter
Tim gets a letter that he needs to deliever and Sarah thinks it is a letter to spy on the town. -
The battle of Trenton
Washington's Army crossed the Delaware and surprised the British at Trenton. The main attack was made by 2,400 troops under Washington on the Hessian Garrison. -
Battle of Princeton
Overnight, Washington moved his troops out of Trenton and into Princeton to the north. -
Turning point in Tim's beliefs
Tim changed his mind about being a tory when he saw the british brutally attack Captain Starr's house and all of his neighbors that were in there. -
Tim learns his father has died
Tim had discovered that his father was captured by british soldiers and placed on a prisoner of war ship. There was an epidemic of Cholera disease that consumed lives of ship borders, and killed Tim's father. -
Tim has to face the outcome of the war
Tim is confronted with hunger from lack of money to buy cattle, limited education because he has too much work, and now he is fourteen and has changed from a boy to a grown-up. -
Sam is made an example of
After Sam returns to Redding with the troops, he is framed for stealing his families cattle, and imediatley sent to prison to await execution. General Putnam wants to make him and two other unfortunate men examples of why the troops should follow the rules. On February 6, 1779 sam is shot in front of the town. -
The Battle of Yorktown
During this Battle, the British were surrounded by the continental army and the newly allied French in their pathetic attempt to battle with the colonies. Being surrounded, they had no choice other than to surrender.
