Michael Jackson, also known as King of Pop, was born in August 27th, 1958 in Gary, Indiana USA. He became famous for his hits, "Beat It", "Billie Jean", and "Thriller". Michael Jackson was one of the very few artists that were invited to the Rock and Roll Walk of Fame twice. He has won very many awards, and even though he died on the 25th of June, 2009, he will always be remembered by his thousands fans. -

Buddy Holly was a rock and roll singer and songwriter. He died on an airplane crash with also famous musicians Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper. Buddy Holly was 22 years old when he died, born on the seventh of September, 1936. Spain wins the Eurovision competition in London, (winner of the 1967 Eurovision), with the song "La La La" sang by Massiel. The song was written by Manuel de la Cavla, and Ramon Arcusa. Second place went to the United Kingdom. -

The Woodstock music festival was a three day concert with many famous singers at the time. Its themes were peace and love, and having fun. The festival took place in the town of Woodstock in New York, and thousands of people went there to watch. Some of the artists that sang during those days were Richie Havens, Sweetwater, Tim Hardin, and many more. -

Sweden got first place on the annual competition of Eurovision, in 1974, with the song Waterloo sang by the ABBA. Second place was taken by Italy. The host city was Brighton, England. -
John Lennon Gets Shot
John Lennon, part of the Beatles, was forty years old when he was shot by an unknown murderer at his apartment in New York City. He was shot at least three times, the witnesses say. He will be remembered for his songs "Imagine", "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds", and "Revolution". -

In 1983, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum Opens in Cleveland, Ohio. The create the building, the government taxed the people a total of $65 million. It exhibits different achievements of famous singers, and bands; and many visitors go there every day. -

The album "Thriller" by Michael Jackson was released, featuring the song "Thriller", with one of the very first music videos of all time. It won a Guinness World Record award as the most successful music video. The album sold over 110 million copies worldwide, and these songs continue to be famous nowadays. -

Greece won first place in the singing competition Eurovision. The song was "My Number One", sang by Helena Paparizou. Natalia Germanou and Christos Daltis wrote the song, which was performed in Kiev, Ukraine. Malta got secong place!
