  • Music in the 20s

    The music in the 20s was dominatd by traveling bands that performed jazz and blues music. Some hit songs from the 20s were Whispering by Paul Whiteman, Crazy Blues by Mamie Smith and Dardanella by Ben Selvin.
  • Music in the 30s

    The Great Depression greatly influenced music in the 30s. Music was like an escape from the hardships of life at that time. The music was usally types of Jazz, Blues, Broadway, and Ragtime. Some hit songs from the 30s are If I Had a Girl Like You by Rudy Vallee, Little White Lies by Fred Waring & the Pennsylvanians, and Three Little Words by Duke Ellington.
  • Music in the 1940s

    Music in the 1940s tried to remain upbeat but at the same time reflect the feeling of WW2. Country, jazz, and swing were the main genres of the 40s. Some hit songs from the 40s are In The Mood by Glenn Miller, Only Forever by Bing Crosby and Frenesi by Artie Shaw.
  • Music in the 50s

    Music in the 50s refected the major social changes in the U.S that were occuring in the country at that time. The main genre of the time period was rock and roll. Some hit songs from the 50s are Mona Lisa by Nat King Cole, Cry by Johnnie Ray, Unforgettable by Nat King Cole.
  • Music in the 60s

    The music in the 60s was during the british invasion and and also bridged the gap between commercialism and manufactured bands. Some hit songs from the 40s are The Twist by Chubby Checker, It's Now or Never by Elvis Presley and Save the Last Dance For Me by The Drifters.
  • Music in the 70s

    The 70s were like a bridge between serious music and excessive music. The main genre from this time period was disco. Some hit songs from the 70s are In The Summertime by Mungo Jerry, Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel and Let It Be by The Beatles.
  • music in the 80s

    Music changed dramaticaly in the 80s because of the creation of Music Television. The main genre from the 80s was syth-pop. Some hit songs from the 80s are Call Me by Blondie, Funkytown by Lipps Inc. and Crazy Little Think Called Love by Queen.
  • Music in the 90s

    Some of the popular types of music bands in the 90s were anti establishment grunge bands and gangster rappers. The main genre from the 90s was grunge and some faumos musitians from that time period were Nirvana, MC Hammer and Salt 'n Peppa.
  • Music in the 2000s

    Music in the 2000s is very simaler to what we have today. Some of the main genres from the 2000s are Hard Rock, Alternative Metal and Disney Artists. Some hit songs from the 2000s are Stan by Eminem, Music by Madonna and Oops I Did It Again by Britney Spears.
