Birth of Muhammad
Born in Mecca which was a center of religious practice because of The Kabah. Today it is soley used for Islamic purposes instead of polytheistic. -

Death of Mother & Father
Within two years, both his mother and father die. He was placed under the protection of his grandfather, Abdul Al-Muttalib. His grandfather was respected in the community as a leader, and he controled the pilgrimage in the city. -

Mount Hira
At 40 years old, Muhammad got his first revelation. When he first got them he thought it was not real. He later found out tht it was the Angel Gabriel speaking to him. Revelation said that there is one god, Allah, and demanded destruction of idols. He kept his experience to himself. -

Night of Ascent
Muhammad doubted if he really was a prophet of god. He was transported from Mecca to Jerusalem. Then Muhammad ascented into heaven, and he met god along with other prohpets and archangels. He was cleansed of any doubt, and was filled with wisdom. After, he took his message public -

Meccans did not like Muhammad's sucess. Over the course of several years there were battles fought. Eventually, they came to a peace agreement. After the battles, Muhammad and the Muslims became powerful and gained followers. -

Death of Muhammad
Before dying, Muhammad returned to Mecca to make a final pilgrimage along with thousands of Muslims. He later returned to Median were he died and was buried in a mosque. -
Marriage & Family
Muhammad married a distiant cousin named Khadija. At the time, He was in his early twenties, and he was propsed to by Khadija who was impressed with his character and honesty. He had six children, but only four lived past infancy. Because of his wife he started to manage her merchant business. They became successful trade leaders. -
To Medina
Along with his followers, Muhammad was kicked out of Mecca. They went to Medina which was the city were his father was buried. The first Muslim community was built there. -

Muhammad's Teenage Years
After the death of his grandfather, Muhammad was put under the care of his uncle named Abu Talib. As a teenager, Mihammad worked as a shepherd, and sometimes traveled with his merchant uncle.
