Russian Communist Revolution
The Russian Communist Revolution took place during the end of WWI. Created the USSR, which formed the worlds first communist state. This connects to the cold war because it is the start of communism. -
Treaty of Versailes
Created at the end of WWI, the Treaty of Versailes created for the purpose of maintaining peace. The treaty placed all blame and war debts on Germany which in turn sent them into a depression. Since the country was struggling East Germany fell to communsim while West Germany was democratic. This relates to the cold war because of the spread of communism. -
Yalta Agreement
Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin met in Russia to dicuss future progress of the war and the post-war world. -
Berlin Airlift
East Berlin put a blockade on anyone trying to get into or dropping off supplies to West Berlin. The U.S. decided to drop supplies off by air craft. -

The first General Assembly of the United Nations met in London and decided there should be an Atomic Development Authority which would have a worldwide monopoly over atomic missiles. -
Baruch Plan
The Clold War connects to the baruch plan because it deals with Nuclear competition between the US and Soviet Union. The Baruch Plan would have established international control of atomic energy and weapons under control of the United Nations. -

The Doctrine stated that th US would contain and confront communism whenever is was being influenced. This relates to the Cold War because they were trying to stop the spread of communism. -

Mao Ze Dong proclaimed the founding of the Peoples Republic of China. The announcement ended the costly full-scale civil war between the Chinese Communist Party and the NAtionalist Party in China. -

Soviet satellite launchedat 7:28pm. launched from Gagarian's start. The Soviets won the "Space Rcae" by putting the first satellite in space. -

Walsea was a Human Rights Ctivist and Polish politician. He founded and led Poland Solidarity, which was the first independant labor union. The Solidarity had a non violent anti communist movement with millions of followers. Said to effect the fall of communism. -

July 31, 1991 START 1 was signed by US Presidnet GEorge H.W. Bush and Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev. It was to provide for deep reductions of U.S. and Soviet Strategic nuclear weapons. -
