Starting Out
Two brothers by the names of Richard and Maurice Mcdonald started to plan out for a restaurant because they wanted to be millionaires. They then opened a tiny drive-in restaurant in San Bernardino, California in hopes of achieving their dream. Little did they know, that restaurant would be the start of many things to come. -
Naming The Location
Most wonder why Mcdonald's got its name because Ray Kroc did all of the founding for this fast food restaurant. Even though he was the founder, he decided to take the name from the Mcdonald's brothers because he simply liked it better. -
Sign, Sealed, Delivered
A few years later, the very first Mcdonald's was founded. April 15, 1955 in Des Plaines, IL was the location of the first Mcdonald's -
Orignal Pricing
Of course, as expected, the original prices for a meal at Mcdonald's was very cheap compared to what we pay now. A hamburger was 15 cents, yet, on the first day of the opening of Mcdonald's, they made $366.12. That's a lot of 16 cent hamburger hamburgers. All of their drinks were 10 cents except for their "Malt Shakes", which were 20. Their french fried too were 10 cents. -
Advertising
As every business, Mcdonald's had its own special slogan. "Look for the Golden Arches." When they came up with this slogan, it ended up boosting the sales by a lot. It drew more attention to the restaurant and people suddenly became intrigued. This led to the company eventually selling their millionth burger which led them to release their well known mascot Ronald Mcdonald. -
Shares & Stock
In 1965, McDonald's Corporation went public. Common shares were offered at $22.50 per share. By the end of the first day's trading, the price had risen to $30. A block of 100 shares purchased for $2,250 in 1965 was worth, after 12 stock splits (increasing the number of shares to 74,360), over $5.7 million as of year-end market close on December 31, 2010. In 1980, McDonald's Corporation became one of the 30 companies that make up the Dow Jones Industrial Average. -

Due to Mcdonalds blowing up more and more across the country, the first McDonald's in Mainland China opened in Dongmen, Shenzhen in October 1990 -
