Selective Service Act
The first Selective Service Act of World War I was passed in May 1917, more than a month after the U.S. had declared war against Germany and its allies. The act provided for the registration of all men aged 21 through 30; registrants were examined for physical and mental fitness and, if found to be ineligible for exemption on any of the specific grounds provided by law, were inducted into the armed forces. -

Hitler Seizes Austria
On March 12, 1938, German troops invaded Austria.Hitler was received with great enthusiasm by the Austrian people, and he immediately announced that Austria had become part of the German Reich. The laws of Germany, including its anti-Semitic acts, were swiftly applied in Austria. -
Munich Pact
The four countries of Germany, Italy, France, and Great Britain composed and signed the Munich Pact in Munich, Germany on September 29, 1938. The forming of the pact between these four countries served as appeasement purposes, securing Great Britain’s and France’s agreement to Adolf Hitler’s Demands.The Pact, signed by Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain for Great Britain, Premier Edouard Paladier for France, Adolf Hitler for Germany, and Benito Mussolini for Italy. -
France and Britain Declare War on Germany
They wanted to stop Germany before it became too powerful.On this day in 1939, in response to Hitler's invasion of Poland, Britain and France, both allies of the overrun nation declare war on Germany.The first casualty of that declaration was not German-but the British ocean liner Athenia, which was sunk by a German U-30 submarine that had assumed the liner was armed and belligerent. -
Hitler Invades France
After the Low Countries surrendered to Nazi forces, the German army is on the doorstep of France. Since France is such a large country the Nazi army will occupy the Northern section but the rest of France – 70%, will become a Nazi puppet government called Vichy France. Paris will surrender on June 22, 1940. Hitler will take a tour of the city and will get the French to sign the terms of surrender in the same railway coach used in World War One -
Roosevelt wins 3rd Term
Roosevelt won his 3rd Presidential Term in 1941-1945. During this time Roosevelts 3rd term was dominated by World War One. -
Pearl Harbor
The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. When the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor this started World War 2.
