Nazis take the Sudetenland
Hitler wanted to take the Sudetenland back from the Czechs. he wanted to do this because after world war one the Germans were forced to give the Sudetenland to them after the treaty was signed. Since they had to give a part of Germany to the Czech's the people living there were no longer considered German and Hilter wanted them to be a part of their own country again. in the end Hitler ended up getting the Sudetenland back.

The Germans and the Soviet Union signed a treaty saying that they would be allies so that they could easily invade Poland. They wanted to be allies so they could have and easier time when they went to invade Poland. When Poland was invaded the Russians and Germans split up part of Poland amongst each other.

Pearl Harbor
Japanese fighter pilots bombed the U.S. Naval base in Honolulu Hawaii. This was a devastating hit the Americans. The Japanese destroyed nearly 20 U.S. vessels including 8 battleships and destroyed nearly 200 planes. On September 1940. The U.S. placed an embargo on Japan by prohibiting exports of steel, scrap iron, and aviation fuel to Japan, due to Japan's takeover of northern French Indochina. On Dec. 8th 1941 the U.S. declared war on japan and entered world war 2 -

The American and British teamed up and invaded through North Africa. The Americans and British wanted to cut of vital shipping lanes in the Mediterranean and to provide the allies with a jumping off point into Italy. Hitler was so angry he had ordered his troops to take the south of France. It had worked but by the time they had managed to stop the allied forces the damage had already been done.

Operation Gomorrah
The royal air force made an aerial assault in the city of Hamburg. It was such a heavy assault that it was the heaviest assault in the history of aerial warfare it took 8 days with the U.S hitting at day and the British coming at night. The British had suffered enough air strikes from the Germans so they decided to team up the Royal air force with the U.S air force to make a series of conducted strikes on the city of Hamburg. It was the first time the two had ever worked together -

By the end o9f it the two air forces had dropped more than 9,000 tons of explosives, killing more than 30,000 people and destroying 280,000 buildings. The effect on Hitler, too, was significant. He refused to visit the burned-out cities, as the ruins bespoke nothing but the end of the war for him.

Allied Forces of Britain, America, Canada, and France attacked German forces on the coast of Normandy, France. With a huge force of over 150,000 soldiers, the Allies attacked and gained a victory that became the turning point for World War II in Europe. Germany was trying to take over all of Europe however Britain and the U.S had slowed down the German forces and now it was there turn to turn on the offensive. Over 150,000 troops had landed in Normandy. They pushed their way inland allow. -

The Germans took out the American lines. To do this they had used over 200,000 troops and nearly 1,000 tanks. They also had English speaking spy’s drop behind American lines dressed like U.S soldier to tell lies and confuse them. It was Germany’s last chance to advance.The Germans got through the American lines and tried to advance quickly. Although they advanced other American troops fell back and took out the Germans at Bastogne, Belgium.
