    In World War one. Germany lost quite a bit of land due to war damages, and how they had behaved. So when Hitler was put in charge, he was angry. He wanted the lost land back. He was about to take it forcefully from Czechoslovakia, but instead, they signed an agreement that gave Germany some of their lost land back. Even after this. Hitler wanted more. Ichose this photo because it shows the progression of germany over time.

    Ribbentrop/Molotov pact
    The Ribbentrop/Molotov pact was a 10 year agreement of no war between Nazi Germany and the Soviet union. Also, the Soviet Union gained land in parts of poland. This took place becuse the Soviet Union and Germany could have a truce. This gave The Soviet Union peace during this time. Little did the they Suspect that Nazi Germany would break this pact in less then 2 years. I chose this photo because these were the people who signed and created this pact.

    Hitler wanted the land back that Germany lost in World War one years ago. It was given to Poland and the Soviet Union during that war. This made Hitler very angry. The Nazis invaded Poland and gained it's power. Next they invaded the Soviet Union; breaking the pact signed not even a month earlier. I chose this photo because it shows the Nazis invading Poland.

    German blitzkrieg

    The Nazi army decided to attack multiple countries; including the Soviet Union. In doing so, the Soviet's army was forced back approximately 600 miles. The reason for attacking all of these countries was to gain power and recieve more land. Hitler needed more land to be more powerful. In the end, Germany couldnt beat the Soviets because they ran out of food, and supplies, also; they invaded Russia in the winter.

    This was mainly a war in the sky. Nazi Germany decided they must take down thier last enemy; Western Europe. After sending in the aircraft, they then were going to send in ground troops. Hitler and Germany were defeated after months of bombing Britain.

    Hitlers plan was to invade the Soviet Union. He wanted to Annihilate all jews on a 'Racial Basis.' This was the largest operation of World War two. they viewed the Soviet Union's Communist ways as a threat to the German government. They also wanted a portion of their land. So on June 22nd they invaded the Soviet Union. This is when the German invasion reached its farthest geographical point. This shows the Nazis invading the Soviet Union.

    The Bombing of Pearl Harbor occured on December 7th 1941. America was trying to stay un-involved in the World War. Japan took over northern French Indochina. America then placed an Embargo on Japan because they took over something they weren't supposed to. They really wanted us involved in the war until finally they went to pearl Harbor, and blew up 5 of our 8 battleships; killing 2400 Americans. This shows the Pearl Harbor bombing.

    The Wannsee Conference was a meeting formed by the Nazi government discussing 'The Sinal Solution' or the total annihilation of the Jewish race. They did this because it would cause fear throughout everyone's minds regarding the Nazi government, and where there is fear, there is power. Hitler wanted power. This resulted in the holocaust. These were the members of the Wannsee conference.

    In the Battle of Stalingrad, the Germans goal was to deprive us of Baku; or oil, and other raw materials much needed for war. He also wanted a few of the allies oil fields.Many people died and the Soviet Union lost. The end result was no more threats to the oil fields. This shows the fighting, and destruction of Stalingrad.

    The British strategists came up with ‘torch.' the plan of Torch was combining American and British forces, America would fight on the west, and Britain would fight on the east. In the end, Darlan, a major guy in charge was assassinated on December 24 1942. This map shows operation 'Torch'

    Operation Gomorrah
    operation Gomorrah was a plan the allies made to capture Germany because they were getting out of control. Hamburg is a major city there, so they planned an Aerial Bombing of the area on July 24th 1943 this left the city in rubble killing 40,000-50,000 civillians.America and Britain won this battle. Hitler refused to see the cities left in rubble because it made him face the end of the war. This is the brutal destruction of Hamburg.

    This was the allied invasion of northwest Europe, where the allied powers landed on the east coast of Normandy France. This made people more optimistic about beating the Nazis. This is when Hitler realized that he would soon be losing the war.

    Liberation of concentration camps
    The Germans were surprised by the Soviet' s advance. While the Allied troops in total were begining to invade Germany, Germans began to burn any evidence of their mass murdering of jews, and the Holocaust. They had to burn things like crematories and bunkers. This led even more Holocaust victims to their death in attempt to hide the death camps from the Russians. These are some of the Holocaust Escapees found by the allies.

    The battle of the bulge was the worst battle of World War two.
    It is called the battle of the bulge because that’s how the allied troops invaded; in the shape of a bulge. The battle happened in response to Germanys attempt to split the American and the british troops. Called Operation “Watch on the Rhine” Germans began to withdraw from the Bulge on January 8, 1945
  • VE day

    VE day
    This was the allies' victory over the war. German General Jodl signed the surrender document that properly ended war in Europe. By the holocaust ending, this caused all of the holocaust survivors to go to camps for displaced people (DP) administered by the Allied powers. This is a newspaper announcing the end to the war.
