The intel pocket convert came out on November 5th 2001. instead of the MP3 player being bulky and bot able to fit in your pocket they came out with one that is able to fit in your pocket. -
Instead of having an mp3 player to lug around and some not being able to fit in your pocket if you had the older one it was hard. On January 1st, 2003, they invented iTunes.

On November 14th Zune was invented.
Instead of an mp3 player or iTunes they invented the iPod touch. The iPod touch is kind of like a phone, but mini version and you play music on it just like a mp3 player but more portable.
