    The first "Camera" was made in 1816 by Joseph Nicephore Niepce. The reason it's in quotations because it wasn't really a camera, it was more a public reflection of an image. How it worked was light was reflected into a box, and in that box it would flip upside down to be upright. Then out another whole would reflect the image. This is the beginning of photography.

    Eadweard Muybridge made a bet with his friends that a horse could be off all four of its legs. What was on the line $25,000. To see if Eadweard was right what they did is they took 16 different photos milliseconds after each other. And they noticed when you look at the photos fast after each other it looked like the film was moving.

    The first commercial film was made by Louis and Auguste Lumiere. The two French brothers revealed their invention of March 1895. What was it? One of the first public films. They showed their film in a Grand Cafe in Paris.

    Silent Films really are kicking off. People really enjoyed them the actors of these films had to show they're expressions through actions. During this time they worked with camera angles to see what worked.
  • Nickelodeons

    Nickelodeons
    The first Nickelodeon opens and 450 people attend the opening. Soon Nickelodeons open all across the world. All they did was show a short film, no longer than a minute. And only charged a nickel to get in.
  • Technicolor

    Technicolor
    The film industry is trying something new with color in films. Specifically wanting to try Technicolor. And colored film was a huge success too! But unluckily for the United States they fell into a great depression. So they couldn't afford this sort camera equipment for movies.
  • Post World War 2

    Post World War 2
    Television presents a big threat for the film industry. Television gave people the luxury of watching film from their own house. Although television was only black and white movies at the theater were in color.
