The First Projector Publicly Announced
The first movie projector was announced in 1895, by the Lumiere Brothers, in France. The movies that were projected only lasted thirty to sixty seconds long, but astounded the audience. They called the invention "Cinematographe". -
Narrative Movie Introduced
The first movie to actually tell a story was The Great Train Robbery, in 1903. This was the first movie to have different camera angles and sequences. It had fourteen scenes and lasted twelve minutes, which was a milestone during that time. -
Nickelodeons Introduced
As Vaudeville became more popular, they started to expand into Nickelodeons. Nickelodeons were small storefront-type theaters that featured films. What made these films special is that people added in piano music and sound effects into them. This is where the TV channel Nickelodeon got its name. -
Kinemacolor
The first commercially used color process for film was Kinemacolor, invented in Great Britain. It was used from 1908 to 1914, and stopped because of newer and more efficient processes. George Albert Smith was the inventor. -
MPPC Formed
In December of 1908, Thomas Edison and film companies created the MPPC (Motion Picture Patents Company). This company controlled basically all of the motion picture business. If you didnt obey their rules, they wouldnt allow you to make a movie. Goons would come to your studio and destroy your equipment. Charlie Chapman was hands-down the most popular actor of all time. By this time, he was earning over One Million dollars a year. He starred in movies that were mainly comedy, but a lot of his films were about racial equality and politics. -

The First animated film was called "The Adventures of Prince Achmed". It was created by a german woman named Lotte Reiniger. The Film was first released in Paris, France. -

The first film to have a fully synchronzied soundtrack was "Don Juan". They called it a "talkie" or talking pictures, because of the sound. Earlie talking pictures were made, but they werent fully developed, or practical. -
First Film with 2D Computer Images
The first film to ever use 2D images from a computer was "Westworld". It used a pixelated image to represent the main chracters "Robovison". This is what kickstarted CGI, which is now used in a substanstial amount of movies today.
