Teresa's Father Died

Teaching the Young
From 1931 to 1948 Mother Teresa taught at St. Mary's High School in Calcutta. -
Teresa took her Offical Vows as a Nun
May 24, 1931, she took her initial vows as a nun in India after months of training. -
Vows to a life of poverty, chastity and obedience.
As was the custom for Loreto nuns, she took on the title of "mother" upon making her final vows and thus became known as Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa continued to teach at Saint Mary's. -
Teresa became the School's Principal
After years of kindess and hard work, she earned the title as Principal. -
Mother Recieves her 'Second Calling' During this time
This became a time when her 'second calling' became aparent to her. She was to go and help the sick, hurt, and dying. -
Leaves High School to Work in Poverty
The poverty she glimpsed outside the convent walls made such a deep impression on her that in 1948 she left the convent school and devoted herself to working among the poorest of the poor in the slums of Calcutta. she depended on Divine Providence for funds, and started an open-air school for slum children. Soon she was joined by voluntary helpers, and financial support was also forthcoming. -
Opens the 'Missionary and Charities'
This was opened to was to love and care for those persons nobody was prepared to look after. -
The Home of the Dying Was Opened
Mother Teresa helped organize and open a home for the sick and dying in the City of Calcutta. She became one of the pioneers of establishing homes for AIDS victims. For more than 45 years, Mother Teresa comforted the poor, the dying, and the unwanted around the world. -
The Society booms big!
In 1965 the Society became an International Religious Family by a decree of Pope Paul VI. -
The Missionaries of Charity Brothers was founded
Homes began to open in Rome, Tanzania, and Australia. It's mission was 'To live a life of love by dedicating ourselves to the service of the poorest of the poor wherever they are found.' -
Recives Nobel Peace Prize
Mother's work in bringing help to suffering humanity was recognized when she received the Nobel Peace Prize. She asked that the $6,000 she recieved from this be donated to the poor in Calcutta. This money would permit her to feed hundreds for a year. -
Mothers hand reaches Further
She helped homes pop up around the world for drug addicts, beaten and abused women, prostitutes, more ophans and poor children. -
First hospice for AIDS victims in New York.
Mother Teresa opened the first hospice for AIDS victims in NYC. -
Teresa Challenged the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives
Here she asked the audience the big questions such as family life and abortion. She asked them 'Please don’t kill the child. I want the child. Give the child to me' -
Teresa received the honorary U.S. citizenship

Mother Teresa Died
She peacefully past away due to old age and heart problems. Sad day!
