Born in East Boston
My mom Sharon Pigeon was born in Massachusetts July 24th, 1962. Born to Louie and Elaine, she grew up on Saratoga St. in Boston. She attended St. Mary Star of the Sea grammar school. -
Sharon's Siblings
She was the second born of four children. David, Sharon, Lori, and Darren. As the oldest daughter my mom helped raise her younger siblings, and helped her mother manage the house demonstrating responsibility at a young age. -
Address
Her family moved to Lynn Mass in 1973 when she was 11 years old. Growing up in Lynn was challenging due to the gang violence and drugs that she grew up around. -
High School
She attended Lynn English High School completing mostly AP courses and received very good grades. Sharon has always liked school and learning. -
College
Sharon started attending University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1980. She was the first member of her family to attend college. Her parents originally never thought any of their kids would go to college. -
Major in College
Sharon loves nature and animals and studied animal science and psychology in college. -
Religion
My mom became an Atheist while in college as a result of Church's teachings, and what she had learned about evolution in Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy. -
College Major Change
Sharon changed her major to psychology in 1984 because she didn't agree with lab animal experiments on live animals that she was required to do as part of her major. She also became a vegetarian and remained one for 20 years. -
After Graduation
After Graduating in 1985 she moved to Somerville, and found work in social services. This laid the foundation for her interest in clinical social work. -
Travel
My mom traveled to Paris to visit her best friend who was studying abroad. They went to art museum and tourist attractions. My mothers high school French came in handy. -
Grad School
After working 5 years in the mental health field, Sharon enrolled in an Masters in Social Work program at Smith School for Social Work where she received her MSW degree in 1991 -
Father Passing
My mothers father Louie died of lung cancer at the age of 59 after a lifetime of smoking. When he was young he was a stock car driver, and he was mechanic by trade. -
Commitment Ceremony
My mom Sharon had a commitment ceremony with my other mom Lisa Feinberg in Big Sur. They didn't get officially married because it was illegal at the time. -
Mount Washington
My mom climbed Mount Washington by herself and would not recommend climbing alone to anyone. While it was an accomplishment for her, the mountain is very dangerous. This experience taught my mom to be humble in nature. -
House
In 2002 my moms bought their first home in Natick, Mass. This was important for the family because they were expecting their first child. They chose Natick because of the good quality schools and the family friendly community. -
Birth of a Child
Sharon and Lisa became proud parents of their first and only child Alexander Benetar Feinberg in May of 2003. -
Legal Marrige
Lisa and Sharon were married in 2004 when it was legalized in Massachusetts. They were among of the first same sex couples to be married in the State -
Project Management
In 2006, Sharon received her Certificate in Project Management from Boston University School of Management. She pursued this education to enhance her career options and expand into the broader healthcare industry. -
Divorce
Unfortunately Lisa and Sharon were legally divorced three years after they wed. They share custody of me and live in the towns of Natick and Wellesley -
Change of Direction
In 2011 Sharon moved career wise from behavioral health to a broader health care focus as she continued to enhance her career options -
Major Surgery
In 2017, my mom had both her hips replaced within 6 months of each other improving her ability to hike, bike, and do the things she loves in nature. -
Significant other
Sharon met her significant other in 2018. They love to cook, spend time with family, and hike. -
A Rewarding Career
My mom loves her current job and her career. She works as a program manager for Commonwealth Care Alliance where she incorporates the customer experience in business strategy and operations. This job combines her interest's in business and social work. -
Today
Today, Sharon loves to spend time with family, cooking, and being active in nature. Most of all loves spending time with me.
