The Declaration of Independence argued that the colonies were free and independent states from Britain. So on the 4th of July, the Congress approved the Declaration and signed it. -

Washington and his army cross the Delaware river and surprise attack the British. The Americans were victorious and it was the 1st war won, which helped restore American confidence. -

The British failed to break through American defenses on their way to Albany. So they surrendered on October 13th and American independence was guaranteed. -

Battle of Yorktown
General Cornwallis went from Petersburg to Yorktown to begin preparing a naval base. Meanwhile, George Washington moved south and surrounded the British army, forcing them to surrender. This victory by General Washington ends the Revolutionary War. -
Treaty of Paris
The "Treaty of Paris" sated that the Americans had independence from Britain. Both Great Britain and the United Sates sign the Treaty, which resolved the Revolutionary War.
