  • Proclamation of Neutrality

    Pesident Washington sent out a proclamation to state that the United States were staying neutral with the conflicts in Europe between France and Britian.

  • XYZ Affair

    The XYZ Affair was basically the French trying to bribe the United states by sending over three agents who were dubbed X, Y, and Z.

  • Convention of 1800

    The Convention of 1800 mended the relationship between France and the United States. It settled their differences from the XYZ Affair

  • Louisiana Purchase

    President Jefferson bought the Louisiana Territory from Napoleon of France.

  • The Emargo Act

    President Jefferson asked congress to pass the Emargo Act to cut off trade with those in war, but it hurt the economy too bad.

  • War of 1812

    The War of 1812 was caused by the British taking American saliors and making them work for the Navy of Britian. So it started a War that lasted two years.

  • Treaty of Ghent

    This treaty ended the War of 1812.

  • Monroe Doctrine

    The Monroe Doctrine was passed to officially state that the Americas could not be colonized anymore.
