Japan entered a 200 year isolated period (Isolationism protected Japan from western influence, so Japan missed the westernization and modernization that the rest of the world experienced. The Daimyos and Merchants of Japan really suffered from this because of their lack of international trade and agriculture problems.) -

Chinese forced to agree to the Treaty of Nanjing (In the first opium war the British were defeating the Chinese, eventually forcing them to sign the Treaty of Nanjing.) -

Favored-nation treaty
Japan signed the Treaty of Kanagawa (Millard Filmore, the president of the United states in 1853, sent over a letter with Commodore Matthew Perry to Japan asking them to trade with the U.S. Commodore Perry was going to try to force the Japanese into a favored-nation treaty. The Japanese did not wish to have any conflicts so they signed the Treaty of Kanagawa allowing the U.S to trade with Japan.) -

The Sepoy Rebellion
The Sepoy Rebellion (A mutiny caused by overworked Indian soldiers which led to British soldiers being shot, then taking the Delhi territory. After this the East India Company was terminated and Britain ruled through a Viceroy, starting the British Raj.) -

Ban on opium lifted (The Chinese were falling to defeat the British, after realizing that attempts were futile they signed the treaties of Tianjin.) -

Empress Ci Xi came to power (After Ci Xi husband's death, she took her son and his counsel out of power. Once the ruler, she brought in a time of reform for the Qing Dynasty.) -

Japan undergoes Meiji Restoration (While going through Meiji Restoration Japan overthought the Tokugawa Shogunate, and in doing so made Japan into a military government and gave power back to the emperor.) -
Meiji Restoration
The Meiji Restoration (The Meiji Restoration Coup D’Etat by the Samurais to try to strengthen their army and prevent frauds between territories. Soon after they started, Japan became the major power of Asia.) -

Suez Canal opens (The Ottoman Empire built the Suez Canal to allow Britain a more direct route to India and make it easier for them to control.) -
Japan & Industrial Revolution
Japan enters into industrial revolution (During The Iwakura Mission, Japan learned about modern weapons and how to build them themselves, launching the Japanese industrialization. One of the first acts was putting in a railroad!) -

Defeat in the Sino-Japanese War (After China's loss agents Brittin, China lost Taiwan and Britain took the Chang river.) -
Indian national Congress
The Indian National Congress was formed (Due to the un-humanitarian treatment of the Indian soldiers, and their educational and economical problems, the Indian National Congress was formed sparking the National Independence movement.) -

Guang Xu became emperor (Guang Xu was the nephew of Ci Xi. One in power, a group of radical reformists convinced Guang Xu to start the period of the Hundred Day Reform.) -

Japan ratified a written constitution (After Japanese diplomats returned from Europe, which they decided to base their institution on, favoring the parliamentary system, they signed a written constitution called a Diet to show their seriousness to the world.) -
Japan Women rights
Women's right to vote (During the industrialization of Japan, it’s social structure bagan to change as well. Japan’s Zaibatsus bagan to gain more power even though women were officially considered miners, but soon after WWII they gained the right to vote.) -
Treaty of Portsmouth
The Japanese declared war on Russia (After Russia’s inability to compromise with Japan on a warm-water port they went to war. The majority of the fighting happened in Manchuria, with over 20,000 people dying from the war. Japan eventually won the war and ended up signing the Treaty of Portsmouth which allowed them to keep control over Manchuria and was maintained by Theodore Roosevelt.) -
The Boxer Rebellion
Cixi and her nephew died (After the Qing dynasty was weakened by the Boxer Rebellion, Cixi tried to install a constitutional monarchy. When it was refused she precied to poison her nephew, then die the next day.) -
The Amritsar Massacre
The Amritsar Massacre ( Tension in India began to grow due to the rise of Nationalist movements. During a national demonstration, British soldiers stormed the crowd killing hundreds.)
