    The First Gulf War
    Iraq invaded Kuwait which angered Saudi Arabia and Egypt. These countries asked for help from the United States and her allies. The United States and its allies were successful at removing Iraqi forces out of Kuwait. The war lasted 42 days.
  • World Trade Center Bombing

    World Trade Center Bombing
    A 1,200 pound bomb in a truck parked under the World Trade Center exploded killing 6 people and injuring many more. Six of the seven Islamic suspects were caught.
  • Oklahoma City Bombing

    Oklahoma City Bombing
    A truck packed full of explosives blew up in front of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building killing 168 people and injuring many more. The man who set off the bomb was executed for his crimes and his partner got a life sentence in prison.
  • United States involvement in Serbia

    United States involvement in Serbia
    The United States and the rest of NATO attacked Yugoslavia in Operation Allied Forces. Serbia was the territory that was bombed the most because the military was concentrated there. NATO attacked them because they were waging genocide on Kosovar Albanians.
  • The Attack of the USS Cole

    The Attack of the USS Cole
    The USS Cole was attacked by suicide bombers that were associated with al Qaeda. It was bombed while refueling in port at Aden, Yemen. 17 US sailors died during the bombing and 39 were injured.
  • 9/11

    9/11
    19 al Qaeda members hijacked four planes to use as suicide attacks. Two hit both Twin Towers in New York City, one hit the Pentagon, and the passengers on the fourth plane managed to take control and crash it into a field in Pennsylvania. Almost 3,000 people were killed in these suicide attacks.

    After the events that took place on 9/11, US started an invasion in Afghanistan which was called Operation Enduring Freedom. US accused the Taliban of hiding an al Qaeda leader named Osama Bin Laden. Even after killing Osama Bin Laden, the war has dragged on to this day.

    Invasion of Iraq
    The United States invaded Iraq in an attempt to disarm Iraq, to save the Iraqi people, and to overthrow the government set up by Saddam Hussein. It was successful, and in three weeks, the US had taken control of Iraq's major cities. There is still unconventional fighting in Iraq to this day.
  • Fort Hood Mass Shooting

    Fort Hood Mass Shooting
    A mass shooting happened at a military base in central Texas. It was done by Major Nidal Malik Hasan. He killed 13 people and injured 30 others with a semi automatic pistol. He was an Islamic extremist, saying "Allahu Akbar" before he started shooting.
  • Osama Bin Laden's Death

    Osama Bin Laden's Death
    Osama Bin Laden was killed by a US navy SEALs team during a raid in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The whole operation took only 40 minutes, ending with a total of 5 Islamic deaths. Bin Laden died by a bullet to the head just above his left eye.
